Guest blog from Abbie who runs the Instagram account @marleyandhismumma where she documents life with her partner and their son Marley. The three of them came to stay with us in Croyde, here’s what they got up to.

So, this year has really flown by but I MUST talk to you about our amazing staycation back in July to Croyde Bay Resort. We are usually your typical suckers for a holiday abroad and its been quite a while since we have simply packed up the car and headed on a summer holiday in the UK but this year we did just that and trust me, we will now be doing a lot more of it and cannot wait to get back to Croyde Bay Resort.

We arrived into Croyde just as lockdown was easing, meaning lots of the local area’s facilities and usual outings you may go on were shut. That being said there aren’t many ‘booked activities’ that you really need to do when visiting Croyde Bay Resort as surrounding beaches and on-site activities really are all you need with truly stunning sandy beaches, dunes and the perfect surfing waves. The site itself provides access via a gorgeous sandy path right behind the lodges to the tip of Croyde beach and you wake up quite literally hearing and smelling the sea to add to that real holiday feel!  Our son Marley loved playing at the on-site playground, in small rockpools of water and exploring the sand dunes. We loved walking down into the village and eating out on the grass, topped of with an ice cream of dreams from the ice cream shop.

We stayed in one of the stunning four-bedroom lodges and I was so surprised just how spacious it really was. It was everything you could need (and more) when holidaying with a family, including a washing machine (for when the kids somehow manage to ruin all of the clothes you packed on day one), luxury bathrooms (x2), spacious rooms (the 4 bedroom lodge’s master bedroom even had a walk in wardrobe), a large kitchen/lounge/diner area and a stunning balcony. This worked perfectly for us as we could put Marley down to bed at his usual time and enjoy an evening on the balcony drinking wine, eating dinner and then snuggling down to watch Netflix, you can login to your account on the lodge’s TV’s, giving it a real home away from home feel

As we arrived when everything was just beginning to re-open from lockdown, we were very aware of what regulations were in place and we could not have felt safer on site. One-way systems were in place in all inside areas, the children’s playground was continuously wiped down and activities such as tennis needed to be booked with the reception so that only one family used the courts at a time. The restaurant has a seamless system in place in which you could access the menus online, order from your phones and have your meals brought out by staff in full PPE.

In true typical British Holiday style the weather we experiences wasn’t the best but it didn’t dampen the mood of the area or the beauty of the long, stunning beaches to roam. We have recommended Croyde Bay Resort to anyone that will listen and plan to return in 2021 ourselves.

Thank you Croyde Bay Resort for having us. You’ll be seeing a lot more of us from here on out.
