With lighter evenings on the horizon and the hope of summer returning some normality to our lives, many of us are now looking to book ahead for some much needed rest and relaxation. The uncertainty of border restrictions and quarantine regulations means that for many people in the UK, a staycation is the best option for a well-earned break. With so many stunning areas of the UK to explore it can be difficult to decide where to go first. To help you choose, we’ve put together our top 5 reasons why you should enjoy a staycation in the beautiful coastal area of Croyde and North Devon.

1. It’s Practical and Close to Home

It has been a stressful period for all of us and the last thing you may feel like doing is adding to that with the uncertainty and implications of organising a trip abroad. Staycations are set to be incredibly popular in the UK throughout 2021 with many of us enjoying a break closer to home with all the practicalities of being nearby but all the benefits of being on holiday too. Not only that, but you will also be making a positive contribution to UK businesses within travel and tourism that have been hit hard by the pandemic.

2. Beautiful Coastline and Beaches

It’s no secret that North Devon is home to some of the best beaches in the South West, with stunning stretches of the South West Coast Path, sand dunes, rock pools and beautiful sunsets. You’d be forgiven for thinking you were in another country. Accommodation at Croyde Bay Resort backs directly onto the sand dunes of Croyde beach, which happens to be one of the best surfing beaches in the UK and is the perfect spot to relax and soak up the sun.

3. Dog Friendly

Croyde and North Devon are home to some of the most dog friendly holiday spots you can find. Taking away the stress of finding a dog sitter and bringing your dog on holiday means you can enjoy all the stunning coastal walks and beaches North Devon has to offer with plenty of open space for them to run around in. There’s no need to worry about popping into the local pub either as all five pubs in Croyde & Georgeham are dog friendly too. Our resort offers designated dog friendly accommodation for you and your pooch with complimentary biscuits and blankets to make them feel right at home. Croyde beach allows dogs between October – April and dogs are allowed on the sand dunes all year.

4. Wonderful Food & Drink

Wine and dine in some of Croyde and North Devon’s finest pubs and restaurants and sample some of the best fish n’ chips in the South West. As well as the food and drink we offer on the resort, a short walk into the village will offer a range of the North Devon’s best local pubs and restaurants. To name but a few, The Thatch is a favourite amongst locals and travellers and a must visit for those who enjoy a traditional English pub. Alternatively, if you’re looking for a more family-focused setting, The Manor is another excellent spot to try, serving a range of food and takeaways throughout the day and into the evening. During the summer months, the pop-up café at Barricane Beach serves homemade curry, ice creams, drinks and snacks which you can eat whilst taking in the sounds of the ocean in this beautifully tranquil setting.

5. There’s Something for Everyone

Whether you’re looking for the perfect family holiday, an action-packed weekend or a relaxing couple’s getaway, you can do as little or as much as you’d like. If an action-packed family staycation is what you’re after, the resort offers a range of fun facilities on site such as tennis, crazy golf, snooker, swimming and more. In addition, there are plenty of things to do locally such as visit the local national parks of Exmoor and Dartmoor, take the ferry across to Lundy Island, visit the tranquil seaside town of Clovelly or even book your first surf lesson at Walking On Waves. If that all sounds like too much, then you can simply sit back, relax, and enjoy some time in the sun.
